Primordial Radio is very excited to announce that Shinedown guitarist Zach Myers will be taking part in the Radio Residency for the month of May.
Hosted by presenter Adam Whalley, the Radio Residency will air every Wednesday, with Zach joining Adam to talk about the band’s new album ‘EI8HT’, which is due for release on Friday, May 29th, 2026.
Adam and Zach talk about the making of EI8HT, why the record feels like a clearing of the decks and how Shinedown balance huge radio hits with more deep fan favourites in the live set.
They also chat about playing American Idol, strong opinions on AI songwriting, trainers, Michael Jordan and a brilliant diversion through Garth Brooks, U2, The Beatles, Paul McCartney and the gigs that helped shape Zach as a musician.

Shinedown have cemented their status as one of the most vital and forward-thinking powerhouses in music, embodying the kind of creative dynamism that transcends boundaries with over 8.3 billion global streams, 15 platinum and gold singles, platinum or gold certification for all of their albums, 10 million albums sold worldwide, and major media acclaim. They are known for their timely and honest messages behind their chart-topping songs that resonate with not only their global audience and the rock community, but with our culture at large.
Recently the band made history with “Searchlight,” as they debuted the track at the band’s Grand Ole Opry debut. Frontman Brent Smith introduced the song by telling the audience: “Sometimes when you listen close enough to the universe and you’re willing to receive something from it- a song can come out of thin air. We didn’t find this one, it found us.” See a clip of the Opry performance HERE and introduction of the band by Carrie Underwood Here.
The performance quickly became the most talked-about moment of the night, resonating deeply with fans and critics alike. Written by Brent Smith, Eric Bass, and Dave Bassett and produced by Eric Bass at Big Animal Studio, the song showcases Shinedown at their most expansive, blending rock with Americana, rhythm and blues, bluegrass, and outlaw country influences, while retaining the anthemic power that defines their sound.
