Here at Primordial, we don’t just do things differently, we do them better too!

As part of our Envirometal promises we are always looking for ways how we can mitigate our impact on Planet Earth, and we reckon we’ve come up with a beauty!

Working in partnership with Project Seagrass charity, we can now provide both you the fam, and the whole world, with the ….

Primordial Radio Envirometal Seedbank-U-Lator

Seedbank-U-Lator

A nifty little device which converts your car miles into seagrass meadows!

You may all be aware of the schemes where you pay to plant trees to offset your carbon, well sadly these really are pipe dreams, with many not coming close to fulfilling their promises.
So we set our semi-tamed heavy metal marine biologist, The Blowfish, on the case and he’s come up with a real winner.
By supporting a seagrass charity instead, in the form of offsetting your miles for seeds, we are actively helping an ecosystem which has the potential to actually offset more carbon than a mature terrestrial forest!

And now, a word from our resident Envirometal Consultant

“The thing about seagrass is that it binds together so many different parts of an ecosystem. From providing homes to juvenile fish, to offering protection to beaches and coasts by quelling storm waves, seagrass meadows are an incredible habitat that are massively under threat. By teaming up with Project Seagrass, we can help support this amazing aquatic habitat… AND it has the added bonus of sucking up plenty of Carbon Dioxide too! What’s not to like?”

So there you have it people. Any journey, big or small! Make sure you stop by the seedbank-u-lator afterwards and donate whatever you feel you can.
Every single penny goes solely to Project Seagrass for the planting, maintaining and monitoring of our UK seagrass meadows.
Winner Winner Seagrass Dinner!*

Check out the Primordial Radio Envirometal Seedbank-U-Lator

(*please note: you should only attempt to eat seagrass if you are a sea turtle)

Below is a one-off recording of Moose & Pete on 16th March 2020 and the on-air discussion.

Episode 281

SEVENTY MILES? That’s an INSANE distance to walk in one go! What makes it even more remarkable is that PRFam member Dave Fairbrother did it whilst wearing full ice hockey gear (minus the skates, obvs!) to raise money for his local MIND charity. Moose and Dews pay tribute to Dave’s fantastic achievement, but if you want to give towards the cause then the Just Giving link is still open here

There’s also a ton of other stuff for the guys to chat about, from the Primordial Inkubus to the upcoming jewellery drop that has both of them *very* excited.

Walk towards the good in life and one day you will arrive

Glaswegian metallers BLEED FROM WITHIN are taking over Primordial Radio for a whole month hosting the BLEED FROM WITHIN RADIO RESIDENCY.

Episode 02 is available to listen to now on-demand.

Tracklist
Bleed From Within – Levitate
While She Sleeps – Sleeps Society
Sylosis – I Sever
Bullet For My Valentine – Your Betrayal
Deftones – Digital Bath
Gojira – Explosia
Lamb Of God – Laid To Rest
Bury Tomorrow – Death (Ever Colder)
Bad Omens – Artificial Suicide
Bleed From Within Stand Down

Bleed From Within’s new album SHRINE is out on June 3rd via Nuclear Blast Records. Pre-Order here.

BLEED FROM WITHIN have been to hell and back in the last two years but these Glasgow bruisers are no strangers to enduring hardship. When a global pandemic threatened to shut down the release plans for the band’s fourth studio album, Fracture, the lads responded by collectively raising five middle fingers and pressing on, despite facing pressures to postpone. If venues were unable to open their doors, BLEED FROM WITHIN would find a way of delivering the headbang to the front doors of their fans instead.

It’s no surprise that this unstoppable riff machine continues to crush forward at such a frantic pace – there is no putting the breaks on the heaviest band to ever emerge from Scotland. The band’s reputation as one of the most formidable forces in modern metal has earned them tour slots with MEGADETH, LAMB OF GOD, TESTAMENT and HEAVEN SHALL BURN, to name just a few. And with over 25 million streams for Fracture, the Glaswegian metalheads are only growing stronger and more popular with every new release.

Their latest single, I Am Damnation, is the band’s heaviest yet, the culmination of two years hard work that embodies their artistic might. Armed with the learnings of evolving their sound over the last decade without ever losing sight of their DIY roots, this is BLEED FROM WITHIN at their very best. With the backing of a new deal with Nuclear Blast Records and a new album on the way in 2022, there’s no denying the band’s inevitable next steps are world domination.

Moose & Dews meet up once again to talk all things Primordial, but not before they go full “grumpy old men” and discuss public transport, call centre waiting times, and the state of Dewsbury’s back (SPOILER: not good.)

There is some good news though, with the latest Primordial membership numbers, and then someone puts 50p in the Moose-Rant-O-Meter.

Did we mention that Dave Fairbrother is raising money for Tameside, Oldham and Glossop Mind – all the info is here

Moose & Dews catch up once again in what is Mental Health Awareness Week. They are joined by PRFam member Stewart Lucas of mental health charity MIND to discuss Mental Health Awareness Week, as well as discussing their own mental health, and the toll that the last few years – and indeed Primordial itself – has taken. Boats feature prominently, for some reason.

The guys also discuss merch and reveal details of the return of a much-loved event later this year.

And it seems apt to mention Dave Fairbrother and he is raising money for Tameside, Oldham and Glossop Mind – all the info is here

Mental Health Awareness Week is 9th to 15th May 2022

Welcome to Mental Health Awareness Week.  As hopefully most of you know mental health is one of the pillars of Primordial Radio.

So, while we talk about mental health as much as possible all year round you might be wondering why we are bothering with Mental Health Awareness Week?

Well, this week is significant because the pandemic has really highlighted how many people are struggling with their mental health. We wanted to show our support for the Mental Health Foundation by joining their campaign to start conversations about mental health, challenge stigma and encourage people to talk about their mental health, support others and not be ashamed to ask for help.

Each year for the last 22 years the Mental Health Foundation has chosen a theme for the week and this year’s theme is loneliness.

“Loneliness is affecting more and more of us in the UK and has had a huge impact on our physical and mental health during the pandemic. Our connection to other people and our community is fundamental to protecting our mental health and we need to find better ways of tackling the epidemic of loneliness. We can all play a part in this. Reducing loneliness is a major step towards a mentally healthy society.” Mental Health Foundation

We have gathered lots of information about the theme, which we hope you will find useful, but we would also like to hear from you. If you would like to share your tips for coping with loneliness please tag us on social media and use this year’s hashtag #IveBeenThere

Read our 5 ways to well-being for coping with loneliness.

We know many people within our community struggle with their mental health, which is why we are also supporting Mind’s new campaign, “If this speaks to you, speak to Mind” this Mental Health Awareness Week. We all experience and talk about mental health differently. But we aren’t always listened to. And we aren’t always represented. That’s why Mind are using spoken word to show the different ways people talk about their experiences.

Find out more about Mind’s new campaign

If you want any further information about how we are supporting better mental health within our community please see the links below:

If you are worried about someone’s mental health, don’t be afraid to suggest that they phone a helpline (such as Samaritans on 116 123) or speak to their GP about how they have been feeling.

Episode 278

Moose & Dews catch up once again this week in a reflective mood, as they end up discussing the nature of time, and the importance of making the most of our brief existence. Cheery stuff. This does lead on to Dews’ review of the first Tool show on their current UK run, and not-using phones at gigs.

The guys also look to the future of Primordial, a future that has recently become brighter with a new air of positivity and direction.

The cure for pain is in the pain.
