Jack J Hutchinson has released a new single (Watch Below) from his upcoming 10-track album, ‘Battles’, scheduled for release on Friday, February 9th.

The album ‘Battles’ was recorded at Momentum Studios in Plymouth and was produced and co-written with Josiah J Manning, known for his work with the Kris Barras Band and Inglorious. Hutchinson credits Manning with influencing the album’s lyrical direction, stating that Manning encouraged him to compose more uplifting lyrics.

Manning also significantly contributed to the new single ‘Rip It Up’, co-writing the song and playing the second guitar. The track includes musical elements reminiscent of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Rock and Roll’ and riffs inspired by Ozzy Osbourne. Hutchinson describes the recording process as intense, noting that the vocals were recorded with significant energy as it was the final track for the album.

Hutchinson explains that ‘Rip It Up’ addresses the tendency of some people to focus on negative aspects and blame others for their misfortunes, urging listeners to engage in self-reflection and personal growth.

“The song was co-written with Josiah J Manning, who also plays second guitar on the song. The solo nabs a few lines from Led Zep’s ‘Rock and Roll’, whilst the riff is straight out of the Ozzy book of tricks. It was the last track to be recorded for the album, so the vocals were sung with a lot of venom.

I didn’t have to worry about doing any more tracks the next day, so it was literally the case of belt it out, job done – it’s time for the pub! It’s going to open our sets on the tour as it’s such a full throttle track. It’s going to be fun!

The track is a dig at all those people that focus on the negatives and blame others for their own misfortune,” Jack adds, “It’s a call to arms to stand up, take a long hard look in the mirror and see that change begins within.”

The album ‘Battles’, which is poised for release on February 9th, represents a pivotal point in Hutchinson’s career. It is characterized by a sense of catharsis, drawing on personal experiences of darkness and hurt. This approach has led to what is described as Hutchinson’s most honest, open, and impactful work to date, focusing on storytelling through guitar and vocals.
