Linkin Park recently unveiled an audio teaser of an unreleased song titled “Friendly Fire” (Listen Below) originating from the band’s ‘One More Light’ recording sessions. This teaser, shared on Monday, Feb. 19, is a 30-second clip that provides a new addition to the band’s discography, featuring the late Chester Bennington’s vocals.

Linkin Park Tease New Song

The reveal was made through the last slide of a 10-image carousel post on Instagram, described as “new, unreleased from the One More Light 2017 sessions.” The clip ends with the enigmatic number “04.” Additionally, the band posted this teaser on X (formerly known as Twitter), identifying it with the tag “20 ‘Friendly Fire'” and including the hashtag #FriendlyFireLP.

The song “Friendly Fire” is notable for including vocals by the band’s former vocalist, Chester Bennington, who passed away in 2017. Reports from 2020 indicated that the track was finished and mixed, but it was not part of the original ‘One More Light’ album release.

This color scheme has also been applied to their Spotify image icons and YouTube video thumbnails, attracting attention from fans on platforms such as Reddit.

Despite not performing publicly as a group since the 2017 tribute concert for Bennington, Linkin Park has maintained a presence in the music scene. In 2023, they celebrated the anniversary of their 2003 album ‘Meteora’ with a reissue and unreleased tracks like “Lost.” The band also commemorated their 2000 debut album ‘Hybrid Theory’ with a 20th-anniversary edition in 2020, featuring bonus content including B-sides, live tracks, demos, and other previously unreleased material.

Mike Shinoda, a member of Linkin Park, stated in 2022 that despite regular communication among band members, there were no plans for new music, albums, or tours at that time. He cautioned against speculation about imminent releases or activities.

Reflecting on “Friendly Fire” in 2020, Shinoda mentioned that the song was mixed alongside other tracks during the ‘One More Light’ sessions but was not selected for the final album.

With the recent teaser release of “Friendly Fire,” fans are left to speculate about the band’s future plans and the potential release of new material.
