In an unexpected fusion of the music and sports worlds, Maynard James Keenan, the frontman of the band Tool, is contributing to Mike Tyson’s preparation for his forthcoming boxing match with Jake Paul. Alongside his colleagues at the Verde Valley BJJ martial arts school, Keenan has taken on the task of training Tyson for the July 20th fight.
Mike Tyson V Jake Paul
This unusual collaboration was unveiled after it was announced earlier this month that Tyson, the former heavyweight boxing champion, would face off against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The event is set to be streamed live on Netflix. Keenan revealed that Tyson had started his training regimen at his martial arts centre located in Cottonwood, Arizona.
Keenan took to Instagram to share his enthusiasm about hosting Tyson at their facility. He posted a photo with his wife, Lei Li Keenan, and Tyson, captioning it:

Having earned a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu just a few months ago, Keenan brings a significant amount of martial arts knowledge to Tyson’s training, despite also maintaining a busy touring schedule with Tool.
Following a recent US tour, Keenan is set to embark on the “Sessanta Tour” with A Perfect Circle and Puscifer in celebration of his 60th birthday, along with performances by Primus. Furthermore, Tool is scheduled for a UK/European tour from late May through late June.
Given the timing of the Tyson-Paul fight on July 20th, Keenan might have the opportunity to attend, likely at the invitation of Tyson’s camp, as he will not be on tour during that period.
