This July marks the seventh anniversary of the tragic death of Chester Bennington, an event that profoundly affected his family, friends and led to the suspension of the iconic nu-metal band, Linkin Park. In the aftermath, the band members have consistently communicated the absence of plans for a reunion, focusing on tribute releases and album reissues instead.

Could A New Chapter Begin For Linkin Park?

Recent discussions, however, have brought a potential shift to light, courtesy of Orgy frontman Jay Gordon. In a conversation with Mike Z on Wired In The Empire for KCAL 96.7 (Watch Below). Gordon let slip hints of a possible Linkin Park revival, including the intriguing prospect of a new female vocalist taking Bennington’s place.

Gordon shared his thoughts, saying:

“Very, very cool guys and obviously a great band. They’ve been around a long time and they’re still going for it. It’s going to be tough without Chester (Bennington), but we’ll see. I hear they got a girl singer now. That’s what I heard.”

This revelation was quickly followed by Gordon attempting to retract his statement, recognizing the potential premature nature of his comment. Despite his attempt to dial back, his initial statement had already sparked widespread speculation.

Attempting to clarify, Gordon added:

“Don’t quote me on that. I’m not sure who the singer is going to be, but I heard it was gonna be female. They might just try to move on like that. That ought to be interesting.”

Despite Gordon’s retraction, his comments have ignited conversations and speculation among fans and the music community about the future of Linkin Park and the impact of introducing a new vocalist to the band’s dynamic.

In a new statement, put on Gordon’s Facebook page he stated:

With regards to this linkin park singer thing. I know nothing about any of that. People sure do love to take my words out of context. I love those guys and wish them the best. Wow I was like what in the actual f**k ? I said nothing about knowing any of that and never brought it up. I love Chester and there will never be another him ever. Strange that that dude said something to me about it not the other way around. get real dude. Not cool!
