The official trailer for “Joker: Folie à Deux” has been released (Watch Below) continuing the story from the 2019 Academy Award-winning film, “Joker”. Joaquin Phoenix is set to reprise his acclaimed role as the menacing character, with Lady Gaga joining the cast as Harley Quinn, a new love interest.

Director Todd Phillips is also returning for the sequel, alongside Zazie Beetz who will continue her portrayal of Sophie Dummond, with the trailer also revealing that actor Steve Coogan will be featuring in the movie.

Differing from its predecessor, which was noted for its dark and realistic portrayal of the Joker’s origins in Gotham City, “Joker: Folie à Deux” is positioned to diverge by introducing musical elements. Described as a jukebox musical, the film promises an array of at least 15 musical tracks, highlighted by a rendition of Judy Garland’s “That’s Entertainment!” from The Band Wagon. The background music featured in the trailer is “What the World Needs Now Is Love.”

In preparation for her role, the film’s cinematographer, Larry Sherr shared that Lady Gaga, known for her multifaceted talents in music and acting, adopted a unique approach by requesting to be referred to as Lee on set, aiming to immerse herself fully into her character.

Marking its spot as one of the year’s most anticipated films, “Joker: Folie à Deux” is scheduled for a theatrical release on October 4th, 2024.
