John Cena has announced his retirement from WWE, set to take place in 2025.

The 16-time world champion made the announcement during a surprise appearance at WWE’s Money in the Bank event in Toronto, Canada, on Saturday night.

Cena revealed his plans to participate in several events before officially retiring, including Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, and WrestleMania in 2025, as well as upcoming Raw events airing on Netflix.

Much like Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Dave Bautista, Cena transitioned from professional wrestling to a successful acting career in Hollywood. Cena has already been a part-time wrestler and full-time actor for nearly a decade, so his departure from WWE is not expected to significantly impact his career.

In terms of his upcoming film projects, Cena is set to star alongside Awkwafina in Paul Feig’s action comedy “Jackpot!”, premiering on Prime Video on August 15th. Additionally, production for the second season of the Cena-led superhero series “Peacemaker” has recently begun.
