On a recent episode of Tony Hawk’s Hawk vs Wolf Podcast, actor and musician Keanu Reeves appeared with his band Dogstar (Watch Below) to discuss various music-related topics, including the iconic soundtrack for Hawk’s video game series, Pro Skater.
During the conversation, Reeves congratulated Hawk on the upcoming 25th anniversary of the first instalment of the game and inquired about his favourite skating band from the early days. Hawk responded with;
“Favorite band — and everything kinda follows — is Gang of Four. Everything kinda surrounds that.”

When asked by Dogstar’s Robert Mailhouse if he ever skated without music, Hawk shared;
It was just [playing over] the intercom of the skate parks. They were mostly playing K-Rock… K-Rock was that sound. Rodney on the ROQ, that was one of the first vinyl I ever bought.”
So, that was my contribution to the game in terms of the old school music. Then, they had their own pretty robust music department to get newer bands at the time, the stuff that people associate with [the Pro Skater series], like Goldfinger, Powerman 5000, Fu Manchu, stuff like that.
The episode also featured discussions with Dogstar about the band’s origin, their music, and live performances.
Meanwhile, Dogstar released their first new album in 20 years, Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees, last year. They are set to embark on a 2024 North American tour in September, with stops in cities including Indianapolis, Kansas City, Las Vegas, and Maricopa, Arizona, wrapping up on September 21st.
