Skindred frontman Benji Webbe has confirmed that they have finished recording their new album.

In episode 435 of the Primordial Radio Podcast, Dews and Moose return with a loosely caffeinated dive into all things rock and metal. From the surprising vinyl stats courtesy of Ghost to the long-awaited update from Benji Webb of Skindred, the episode covers new music, legacy bands, and why our spiced rum has a panda mascot.

Skindred, Ghost, and the Changing Face of Rock

In a podcast-exclusive chat, Benji Webb confirms Skindred have completed their new album, with ten tracks ready for a 2026 release. After a period of near-constant touring and festival appearances in 2023 and 2024, the band has been quieter lately. Dews notes that while Skindred filled in last-minute for Five Finger Death Punch at Download 2023, he hopes future high-profile appearances will be booked on merit rather than emergency. Skindred are also confirmed for SMR25 in Stevenage, playing alongside Those Damn Crows and Bob Vylan.

Ghost’s Skeletor album has made a significant impact in the U.S., topping the Billboard chart with 86,000 equivalent units sold, 44,000 of which were vinyl. That’s the largest vinyl week for a hard rock album since tracking began in 1991. While Moose questions the weight of 86,000 units in a country of over 300 million, the vinyl number alone marks a cultural shift in music consumption, showing the continued resurgence of physical media, particularly with bands that offer visual and theatrical experiences.

Robb Flynn revealed that former Bring Me The Horizon member Jordan Fish has contributed production work to Machine Head’s latest material. Though the band’s established identity may mask Fish’s influence, Flynn praised his input, calling him a genius who added sonic depth without overshadowing the band’s core sound.

The long-delayed Soundgarden album, originally being worked on prior to Chris Cornell’s death, remains unreleased due to ongoing disputes with Cornell’s estate. While Kim Thayil remains hopeful, legal entanglements and emotional tensions seem to be slowing progress.
