Capulet Fest 2024 was forced to cancel the entire festival during a band’s set over the weekend.
The issues began when the festival’s venue was changed the night before it started, moving from the Thompson Speedway in Thompson, CT, with a capacity of 13,000 people, to The Webster Theater in Hartford, CT, which can accommodate only 1,200 people and is over 50 miles away from the original location.
Capulet Fest Cancels Amid Financial Issues
By that point, 20 of the 55 scheduled bands had already withdrawn, including Nothing More, Senses Fail, and 10 Years. More bands, such as It Dies Today and Upon A Burning Body, continued to drop out over the weekend, leading to the festival’s shutdown on June 29, the second of the planned three days.
According to the band LiveKill, the festival was halted midway through their performance when security personnel instructed everyone to leave, allegedly due to the organizers not paying the rent. You can watch their video as things unfolded here.
Capulet Fest organizers later issued a statement via social media, as reported by The PRP, following the shutdown of the festival’s Facebook page:

Sunday is no longer an option. We fought. We wrestled with obstacle after obstacle. We became a target. We became hated, even when we were doing our best to save something and give you the best show possible. No one sees the sacrifice. All they do is judge. We did everything we could. We hope you had fun. We did our best. Thank you to everyone who came out and had a blast. We hope you enjoyed the meet and greets. We hope you enjoyed the music. Goodbye.
Additionally, the festival’s website released a brief statement: “Despite our best efforts and due to unforeseen circumstances, Capulet Fest concluded on Saturday night with a spectacular performance by Skillet.”
