A few words from Tash, the Chair of Primordial Radio’s Equality Advisory Group, on International Women’s Day (IWD) which is on Tuesday 8th March 2022.
Some people may wonder why we still mark International Women’s Day in 2022. Well, it’s still important because although we’ve made a lot of progress, we’ve still not got equality.
IWD is a great opportunity to celebrate amazing women and their achievements, to make sure that girls and young women have inspirational role models to look up to, and know they can do anything they want to.
There are so many incredible female artists in rock and metal, from Blondie to Siouxsie and the Banshees, to No Doubt and Brody Dalle. Primordial is introducing me to many new and emerging talents as well – Jinjer, Delilah Bon, Tetrarch, Spiritbox, Poppy, Nova Twins, Hawxx – I could list so many more.
To see so many women in rock and metal smashing it at the moment is amazing, and the impact it will have on the future of the genre cannot be underestimated. This IWD I will be listening to all my favourite female artists, and celebrating the inspirational women I’m very lucky to have in my life.
Tash has put together a great International Women’s Day themed Spotify playlist and FAMail newsletter subscribers will be getting some IWD stories from the Rock and Metal community that is the #PRFAM !
