The KRIS BARRAS BAND is set to release their new album ‘Halo Effect‘ on April 12, 2024, through Earache Records. The album marks a continuation of the band’s presence in the hard rock genre and includes their latest single, “Savages,” along with an official video (Watch Below).

Kris Barras On Savages

Frontman Kris Barras describes “Savages” as a track that explores new directions, both in production and musical style, by integrating electronic elements with the band’s established sound. The song addresses themes of societal and political challenges, a topic Barras feels strongly about. The accompanying video, directed by Barras himself, aims for a cinematic quality, drawing inspiration from sources like ‘Stranger Things’ and Quentin Tarantino films, and features actress Kiara Leigh.

Primordial General Mayhem

Primordial Radio is hugely excited to announce the return of the Primordial General Mayhem 2024 with dynamic and hard-hitting five-piece retro-rockers THE TREATMENT headlining the Friday night.

Fresh from their massively successful tour with Buckcherry, they are set to deliver an electrifying performance with one of their biggest-ever headline shows to date. Joining them are the Brighton-based punk-rock aficionados THE BAR STOOL PREACHERS, alongside energetic South Wales rockers JAMES & THE COLD GUN and hard rock sensations FURY, who made a remarkable impression last year by drawing an overwhelming crowd to the festival’s smaller stage.

“Savages is definitely one of the more ‘out-there’ tracks on the album for us. We wanted to push the boundaries of what we have done previously, particularly production-wise and this track is a perfect example of that. Blending more electronic elements in with the usual KBB big riffs and sing-along chorus, this track has become one of my favorites from the new album.

It’s a song for the everyman about being looked down upon by a higher power, whether it be political, societal, or commercial. It is about taking that disdain, uniting against it, and wearing it as a badge of honor.

I directed and edited the video myself, with my good friend and long-time collaborator Tommy Rowe on camera duties. After releasing a couple of solid performance-based videos, we really wanted to mix it up on this one by doing something more cinematic and with a narrative throughout. We were going for a ‘Stranger Things meets Quentin Tarantino’ vibe with the look and storyline… the alternate realm takes influence from the ‘Upside Down’ in Stranger Things. Actress Kiara Leigh nailed the role. It was an intense few days getting this one done, battling against lots of issues including a blown generator and severe weather conditions!”

‘Halo Effect’ is presented as a progression from their previous work, ‘Death Valley Paradise,’ and is said to feature robust riffs, dynamic choruses, and technical guitar solos. The album showcases a range of musical styles, as evident in the lead single “Unbreakable,” the energetic “Hourglass,” and a unique piano version of “Landslide” available on the indie store edition of the CD.

The album is available for pre-order in various formats including vinyl, CD, and digital platforms. The indie store edition, titled ‘Halo Effect – Piano & Acoustic Edition,’ offers additional acoustic and piano versions of some tracks and alternative artwork. This edition also provides access to exclusive in-store events featuring acoustic performances and meet-and-greets with band members Kris and Josiah.
