Masked metallers President are back with their new song ‘Angel Wings’.
Since emerging in 2025, the band hasn’t followed the traditional path of releasing music, instead treating it more like a slow unveiling. Their EP King Of Terrors was steeped in scripture, ego and death. But ‘Angel Wings’ see’s them truly own their status of rising up in the scene despite the loud noises from their detractors.
The line “I stopped dreaming in colours / Just seeing new shades of black” feels like burnout and where ‘Destroy Me’ confronted self sabotage head on, this track lingers in what follows after.
The recurring images, “Keep thinking I see your face / And then the shape retracts,” suggest something once solid is now slipping out of reach, a person, a belief or even a former version of yourself that no longer fits. President have always blurred identity, but on ‘Angel Wings’, there’s a sense of the old dying to make way for the new.
Between Redemption And Resentment
The band spoke directly about ‘Angel Wings’ stating;
‘Angel Wings’ reflects a search for spiritual redemption and the resolve to begin again. It marks the opening of a new chapter. At its core, the song speaks to holding close those who matter most, while remaining unmoved by detractors.
Undoubtedly President are taking their haters head on when talking about detractors, since their arrival they have constantly been compared to Sleep Token, something they vehemently dismissed in an interview with Metal Hammer as “A fucking lazy comparison.”
Given President’s rapid ascent, sold out headline shows, and the constant accusations of being industry plants, the line; “I’m not infectious yet” carries an odd double meaning. It reads like a sense of self doubt on the surface, but also sounds like a knowing wink at their critics who framed their growth as manufactured.
Then the mask slips further. “Is it safe to say? / That you never fucking loved me anyway.” and even the breakdown snarl of, “I hope you break your neck,” feels deliberately ugly. President aren’t romanticising their haters, they’re simply letting it sit there, unresolved as they continue to rise through the ranks.

President – Angel Wings Lyrics In Full
After The Collapse
Whilst King Of Terrors was about wrestling with what needs to die, ‘Angel Wings’ looks at what survives after death; and the answer is not clean.
The Meaning Behind President’s ‘Angel Wings’ lies in that contradiction, it’s a song about wanting shelter from the destruction of death, questioning whether those around you ever truly cared or were just holding on for their own gain.
For a band so often accused of being plants, manufactured and calculated, this feels extremely direct and exposed all at the same time.
