The O’Keefe Music Foundation has once again brought a stunning cover to life, with none other than 8-year-old Zoë Franziska slaying Slipknot’s “The Heretic Anthem”. After her first OMF cover of Korn’s ‘Freak on the Leash’, she quickly rose to fame and now boasts over 4 million views.
Taking it up another notch in intensity this time around, you’d better not look into those eyes unless you’re prepared?!?! They might just set your screen alight…or cause Corey Taylor some sleepless nights as he searches for his vocal coach!
Boasting an intense and powerful performance, this band from Alaska managed to craft a unique take on Slipknot’s style. The 17-year-old Evan Harris’ heavy yet melodic drumming was grounded by the tight guitar work of Connor Meintel and Calli Dressen – who also happened to be joined in their endeavour by 12-year-old Xander Markewich! To add extra depth to the mix, Parker, Philip Isabella, and Brady recorded two beer kegs as well as using OMF Garbage Can of Doom & Wheelbarrow Of Wonder for rhythmic percussion. Adding an additional sparkle were chimes played with none other than…a chainsaw!!
Speaking about the cover, The O’Keefe Music Foundation stated:
Due to limited funds, OMF was unable to book a professional recording studio. So back to the garage we went! So here it is, proof that you can record a crushing song in your garage.
As always, a huge thanks to the students for all their hard work and to their parents for making this trip possible! And finally, we are very grateful to all our donors whose generosity made this recording and video completely FREE for the kids ???? To music lovers everywhere, please consider donating to OMF so kids from around the country can PLAY. REAL. MUSIC.
