Spotify has introduced the MARROW playlist, accompanied by a unique promotional video (see below) designed to underscore the enduring relevance and dynamism of rock music.
The campaign features a trailer video conceptualized as a parody of true-crime documentaries. In the video, artists KennyHoopla, Destroy Boys, and the Beaches find themselves under investigation by a pair of detectives probing the hypothetical demise of rock music. Throughout the interrogation, each artist steadfastly maintains the genre’s vibrancy and continued influence.
Rock Music Surges In Popularity
Supporting the promotional narrative, Spotify has released data indicating a substantial rise in interest for rock music among its users. The streaming service reports a near 600% surge in searches for terms such as “rock music,” “alt/rock,” and “rock band,” alongside increased interest in specific subgenres like alternative metal, post-grunge, and indie rock.
