“We have to finish the new record. We’ve been working on it, we have a very strict six-year cycle…I think we might be a little overdue. We gotta do it this year. We can feel the heat too, but you know, it’s gotta percolate. We got to fit in between Jack’s very busy film schedule. But we’re going to do it.”
Despite the lengthy gap between albums, Tenacious D has continued to engage fans with new music, including a viral cover of Britney Spears’ hit earlier this year, a rendition of “Wicked Game” last summer, and an original song titled “Video Games” prior to that.
Jack Black’s acting career also remains very active, with recent roles including joining the Minecraft cast, voicing a character in “Kung Fu Panda 4,” and starring as Bowser in “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” in 2023.
