Primordial Radio is very excited to announce that James Scarlett and Gavin McInally, the organisers behind 2000trees, ArcTanGent and Damnation Festival, will be taking part in the Radio Residency for the month of June and the first week of July.
Over three festivals, James and Gav have helped to create some of the UK’s most unique independent events, each with their own identity, audience and place in the wider rock and metal scene. They also host 2 Promoters 1 Pod, where they pull back the curtain on what really goes into running festivals, booking bands and keeping independent live music moving.
Hosted by presenter Adam Whalley, the Radio Residency will air every Wednesday, with James and Gav joining Adam to talk about the realities of running festivals in 2026. From weather chaos and rising costs to grassroots venues, government support and the odd complaints that only promoters could receive, the series gets into the human side of life behind the scenes.
There’s also plenty of chat around music, including Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, The Mars Volta, A Perfect Circle, Rage Against the Machine, The Wildhearts, and the bands that shaped James and Gav as fans before they ever became promoters.

Damnation Festival
Damnation Festival is Europe’s largest indoor extreme metal music festival. Held annually in November, it features over 40 heavy metal, doom, black metal, and grindcore acts across three stages. The festival attracts around 6,000 attendees and has become a major fixture in the UK’s metal scene.
