International Women’s Day: Jan

For my mum, my adoptive mum, the only mum I’ve ever known. She was far from perfect, what parent is? But she had more than her fair share when dealing with me, especially in my teens.
She turns 90 next week. She’s typically stoic, as are many of her generation. The thing that inspires me and has served me so well is her positive mind set. It’s a gift she has given me. Even 5 years into her Alzheimer’s diagnosis, she’s still got her sense of humour.
Despite having had my fair share of mental health issues, I’ve inherited her ability to find the good in everything and everyone. She never gives up and never stops believing.
