Channel 4 has recently announced that Kerrang! TV will be closing down as part of its broader restructuring efforts.

Since its establishment in 2001, Kerrang! TV has been a significant platform for heavy music, providing round-the-clock broadcasting of bands like Limp Bizkit, Paramore, Korn, My Chemical Romance and Foo Fighters. The channel gained popularity for its coverage of the emo and nu-metal genres, primarily catering to a then-youthful audience.

Kerrang! TV To Be Axed

This decision comes as Channel 4 aims to reduce its workforce by 18% in response to a challenging advertising market. The broadcaster has stated that its strategy involves discontinuing smaller linear channels that no longer generate substantial revenues or public value.

Kerrang! TV, along with other music video stations like KISS and Magic, is part of The Box network, which is now set for closure due to changes in viewer preferences and advancements in technology. Platforms such as YouTube have become the primary medium for music video consumption.

Despite the closure of the channel, Kerrang! Magazine (Owned by Wasted Talent Ltd) will continue in its current form. The magazine will remain operational as a quarterly print magazine and maintain a website. Kerrang! Radio (Owned by Bauer Media) is also unaffected by this change and will continue broadcasting.
