Twisted Sister wrapped up their farewell tour in late 2016, marking what many thought was the end of their touring days. Yet, according to frontman Dee Snider in a recent conversation with The Hook Rocks! Podcast, the band is reconsidering their stance due to significant offers that have come their way.

Twisted Sister Rethinks Reunion

During a one-off performance in 2023 for Twisted Sister’s induction into the Metal Hall of Fame, Snider was clear about the band only reuniting for special occasions. However, the landscape seems to be changing, with Snider explaining that it’s difficult to turn down the big offers coming their way…

The singer said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET):

“As a result of all the bands retiring and dying, the offers get bigger and bigger for the holdouts to come back. And we retired in 2016, I think it was. So we’re on eight years now of not playing, with no intention of coming back. But — my father, he says, ‘Everything before the word ‘but’ is bullshit — but at some point, you’ve gotta say, ‘Well, how can I say no to that?'”

He continued: “Is it there yet? No. Is it getting close? Yeah. Is there talk amongst us, like, ‘Well, in the event that the numbers do get there, and they sure as hell seem to be going in that direction, how are we gonna do this?’ So there’s a little bit of that conversation. And that’s both physically how we’re gonna do it and on a number of other levels. And that’s a recent occurrence, that the conversation has gone from ‘never’ to ‘in the event that they make as an offer we can’t refuse, what’s the plan?’ And there’s some very general discussion on that, involving personal trainers [laughs], diets, hair extensions. And that’s the first time in eight years that the conversation has changed.”

Central to Snider’s reflections about a possible reunion is the unity and friendship among the band members. He emphasized their strong relationship, stating

“We’re all friends, by the way. The surviving guys, we all talk and we’re all friends and we love each other. And that was one of the great things that came out of getting back together the first time is that we managed to fix the friendships and be friends and that, to me, is really why I wanted to do it in the first place, getting back [together] last time… So, anyway, we’ll see what happens.”

The Bar Stool Preachers, are a band known for their forthright and insightful approach to both music and societal commentary.

Their most recent album “Above the Static” skillfully balances personal experiences with broader societal reflections, grounded in the band’s dedication to truthfulness and meaningful conversations. Speaking with Louder Than War, frontman, Tom McFaull recently opened up about “Above the Static” and more on the band.

Bar Stool Preachers Speak on Above The Static

It’s really about the noise of interference and distortion that makes it hard to hear your own voice in your head. It’s hard to find a place where there’s enough stillness and silence within your own mind for you to think, even if that is as straightforward as deciding whether to heat your house or feed your kids. It’s also very difficult for a band of our size and stature to be heard above the static of the pointless drivel that the music business churns out. We’re lucky to be working with Ted Hutt, who is Dropkick Murphys’ and Flogging Molly’s producer among others, and he encouraged us to take risks and to be sure of what we were trying to do with the album and we felt that Above the Static was the title that stayed true to what we wanted it to be.

Chanelling The Energy of Independent Venues

The production of “Above the Static” stands as a testament to the authenticity and determination found within the UK’s independent music venues. Amidst lockdown restrictions, the album came to life at The Waterloo in Blackpool, a venue esteemed by the band for its exceptional team, led by Fletch, and its unique offering of on-site accommodation for bands.

What began as a planned two-week retreat morphed into a dynamic and energized recording marathon that stretched into the early hours. This period was not just about laying down tracks; it was an immersive experience that breathed life into the venue. Amplifiers were strategically placed throughout the space, and upstairs writing rooms became the nucleus for refining vocals and synthesizing song components.

By fully immersing themselves in the process the way legendary bands like Led Zeppelin used to, The Bar Stool Preachers experienced the recording process as a living, evolving process. This approach allowed them to meticulously refine and perfect their songs, sometimes resulting in laughter over the previous night’s recordings and, at times, wishing certain excesses had been avoided… We’ve all been there!

Music in Times of Adversity

In an era increasingly defined by its challenges, the significance of music as both a catalyst for transformation and a haven of comfort is strikingly evident. Through their profound insights and lived experiences, The Bar Stool Preachers highlight the remarkable influence music wields over individuals and societies in periods of turmoil.

The band’s narrative frequently underscores music’s dual function as a restorative force and an avenue for escape for both creators and listeners. Echoing this sentiment, Tom McFaull states:

Music has helped me and probably saved my life at times. There’s a great quote: “Darkness has beauty and within beauty there’s light.” We know things are going to get worse and that’s a great catalyst for art. Wherever you are living, be that under Thatcher or during Covid, it’s always going to feel hard and that’s because it is hard, but the music created will be there forever. For musicians, regarding accessibility, there’s never been a better time, as you can put a song out on Soundcloud and people can hear it all over the world, but it’s very hard to make a living out of it. In the UK, this Tory government has gone on too long and there has not been enough funding for arts and culture. We know that without those things, society gets worse and there has never been a more important time for music to keep society rolling.

Despite being in a golden age of digital accessibility, where thousands of tracks are at one’s fingertips, the reality of making a sustainable living from music remains challenging. The band critiques the UK government’s inadequate support for the cultural sector, highlighting the underappreciation and undervaluation of this vital industry.

Personal narratives of economic and societal struggle, including the poignant reality of a generation unlikely to achieve homeownership, fuel a determined artistic drive rather than discouragement. This resolve is encapsulated in the sentiment, “Some of the biggest changes in the world have been made by people with nothing to lose.”

Additionally, the band criticizes mainstream music for its lack of meaningful social engagement, advocating for a reinvigoration of music that conveys significant messages beyond mere entertainment. This stance calls for a shift towards art and music that is both impactful and reflective of deeper societal discourse.

The Barstool Preachers are set to play at the Primordial General Mayhem on Friday 26th April and we can’t wait to give the guys a huge PRfam welcome!

Shirley Manson, the enigmatic singer of Garbage, recently spoke with NME about the reissue of their 2005 album “Bleed Like Me,” the changing landscapes in the music business, and how working-class people are being pushed out of music.

The reissue marks the album’s debut on vinyl, accompanied by a collection of b-sides, remixes, and rarities now available on streaming platforms for the first time. Despite featuring popular singles like ‘Sex Is Not The Enemy,’ ‘Why Do You Love Me,’ and ‘Run Baby Run,’ “Bleed Like Me” received mixed reviews and did not achieve the level of commercial success of the band’s earlier works.

Shirley Manson Speaks Out

Speaking about the initial release of the album, Manson was brutally honest:

“To be quite honest, I never had a particularly good relationship with that record until relatively recently. We were releasing it during a time of immense strife within the band and, honestly, with dwindling interest from our record label and the general public.”

Addressing the disparities within the music industry, Manson also expressed concern over the diminishing presence of bands and artists from working-class backgrounds and those willing to take creative risks. She highlighted a growing divide, with success increasingly dependent on pre-existing wealth.

“But now what you have are musicians who are independently wealthy, or perhaps they come from a rich family, and they can start to carve out a career in the music industry for themselves. The old-timers who recorded records before the year 1995, they themselves can survive. The phenomenal success also lets artists survive. What gets lost in the process are the baby starter bands coming from working-class beginnings and any middle-class of musicians. They are not the ones making really accessible, mainstream-sounding music, but the ones who take risks. Maybe they’re making heavy music, super heavy—esoteric and weird.

You can hear that capitalist and economic strain in today’s music. It’s nonsense, and it’s a heartbreak. Everyone loses. What’s been going on, and may I say, the underlining “young” has been an absolute bloody outrage to these young musicians. Somebody in government should go and help them out, ’cause this is not right; it’s abusive.”

Grungy rockers, Marisa And The Moths have released a new single for “Just Like Me” (Listen Below) a track from their eagerly anticipated second album, “What Doesn’t Kill You”, scheduled for release on May 3rd.

Just Like Me Inspirations

The new track presents an exploration of the similarities between individual experiences and societal structures, set against a backdrop of alternative rock that draws inspiration from the melancholic sounds of Deftones. The vocal performance is inspired by the evocative sound of Jeff Buckley’s style, balancing vulnerability with strength.

Speaking about the single, Marisa shares:

“For me, this song is like a Christopher Nolan film playing in the shadows of my mind. It feels familiar yet infinite, like a stormy fractal landscape where patterns repeat endlessly. Like some kind of beautiful nightmare. It embodies a multitude of emotions and viewpoints of the human condition and our self-destructive nature, yet, whilst the general meaning is something that I feel is relatable, it’s definitely still open to interpretation.”

The Treatment have released their brand new single, “When Thunder and Lightning Strikes” (Watch Below) taken from the upcoming album “Wake Up The Neighbourhood” out 10th May 2024.

The Treatment Gear Up For The PGM

Fresh from their massively successful tour with Buckcherry, The Treatment are set to deliver an electrifying performance headlining the Friday night of the Primordial General Mayhem with one of their biggest-ever headline shows to date. Speaking about the importance of independent venues and headlining the PGM, the band states:

Tagore Grey: On our last headline tour, we did a run of 18 shows, and almost every single one was in an independent venue. There’s something really important about supporting venues like KK’s Steel Mill. Fans and punters are making very conscious decisions to support independent venues because they’re run with love, not just as a business, but because the people behind them care deeply about music.

When you perform there, everything you need is on site, and you’re looked after incredibly well, regardless of whether you’re a small band or headlining. This support for independent venues is crucial because they also support local communities. You see, when you put on shows, the local community backs these places, resulting in incredible shows. The festivals hosted are particularly attentive, highlighting the unique and vital role these venues play in the music ecosystem.

Tagore Grey: We can’t wait to headline the PGM, I think it’ll be it’ll be a really cool festival, we’ve developed a very strong following in Wolverhampton since KK’s opened up.

Dhani Mansworth: Wolves is a place that we’ve always loved playing, fans are great around here, it’s going to be great just to put on a big show for our fans and the Primordial community.

The Treatment draws inspiration from the driving force of early Def Leppard, the exceptional song-writing skills of prime UFO, AC/DC, and Thin Lizzy, and the gritty, low-slung riffing reminiscent of early Aerosmith or Guns N’ Roses. They proudly embody an era when rock bands exuded the look and attitude of true rockers, both on and off the stage. In this era, the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle held great significance, music was everything, and vinyl reigned supreme.

Hailing from Cambridge, England, The Treatment was formed in 2008. They burst onto the scene with their debut album, “This Might Hurt,” in 2011, followed by “Running With The Dogs” (2014), “Generation Me” (2016), “Power Crazy” (2019), and “Waiting For Good Luck” (2021). The band has had the privilege of touring alongside legendary acts such as KISS, Mötley Crüe, Steel Panther, Thin Lizzy, and Alice Cooper, just to name a few. Additionally, they have graced the stages of renowned rock festivals like Download and Sonisphere.

Bleed from Within has revealed a new music video for their song “Killing Time” (Watch Below) from the album Shrine. It’s a homage to the strides the band has made with their live show over recent years and to their successes during this album cycle.

Bleed From Within Reflect On Shrine

Speaking about the video, drummer Ali Richardson states:

“As we approach the end of the Shrine cycle, we’ve been looking back at everything that we’ve achieved with this release. It has been a truly amazing couple of years, taking us thousands of miles around the world.

The perfect setup to the next chapter of our band. The lyrics for ‘Killing Time’ are personal, but I hope that the clear message about making the most of the time we have left will resonate with those reading them. The song always stood out to us and our fans, so it has been great to give it a place in our live set and celebrate it with this video. Shot and edited by our close friend and long-time videographer/photographer Tom Armstrong, we hope you enjoy this montage as much as we do. A true celebration of the band’s journey over the last couple of years!”

Stability AI has introduced the launch of Stable Audio 2.0, an upgraded variation of its AI-driven audio generation software.

This newest variation, released on April 3rd 2024 broadens the capability of its precursor to allow for the creation of musical thinking along with AI-produced sounds. It presents abilities for producing full-length songs of approximately 3 mins in 44.1 kHz stereo quality from text-based prompts.

Stable Audio 2.0 improves this structure by making it possible for the generation of longer audio, which can include complex songs.

AI Music Generation with Stable Sound 2.0

Stable Sound 2.0 additionally uses other attributes consisting of brand-new “audio-to-audio” abilities that enable individuals to submit their own sound examples to establish the design along with audio of AI-generated outcomes.

Scepticism Remains Around AI Generated Music

Ed Newton-Rex, the business’s previous Vice President of Stability AI, left the business mentioning worries over making use of copyrighted products in the training datasets for AI designs.

“Companies worth billions of dollars are, without permission, training generative AI models on creators’ works, which are then being used to create new content that in many cases can compete with the original works. I don’t see how this can be acceptable in a society that has set up the economics of the creative arts such that creators rely on copyright.”

In reaction to these issues, Stability AI asserts that Stable Audio 2.0 uses a dataset accredited from the AudioSparx songs collection which is made up of over 800,000 sound designs. The firm highlights:

“Stable Audio 2.0 was exclusively trained on a licensed dataset from the AudioSparx music library, honoring opt-out requests and ensuring fair compensation for creators.”

The upgrade additionally incorporated Audible Magic to check sound uploads for copyright violation. Audible Magic uses web content acknowledgement technology to assist with real-time material matching to avoid copyright violations.

The brand-new design has been made available at no charge on the Stable Audio website and is anticipated to be incorporated into the Stable Audio API soon.

In addition, Stability AI has also launched Stable Radio, a 24/7 online stream showcasing songs created by Stable Audio.
