Bring Me the Horizon kicked off 2024 by dropping their latest single “Kool-Aid” (Listen Below), signaling their return to the music scene after keyboardist Jordan Fish’s departure. The band has been diligently working on their four-part EP series titled “Post Human,” which commenced with “Post Human: Survival Horror” in 2020.

However, the progress on the series has faced unexpected delays, causing the release of the next installment, “Post Human: NeX GEn,” to be pushed from its initial fall schedule to the summer of 2024. This setback can be partially attributed to Fish’s departure.

Life After Jordan Fish

In December 2023, the band acknowledged Fish’s significant contributions over the past decade and confirmed their commitment to completing the “NeX GEn” project. Fish’s influence on the band’s sound was notable, and his departure raises questions about their future musical direction.

The newly released “Kool-Aid” showcases the band’s robust sound, characterized by a powerful guitar intro, dynamic beats, and a blend of melodic and heavy elements, courtesy of lead vocalist Oli Sykes. The song also features behind-the-scenes work from producer Dan Lancaster, who has a history of collaborating with the band.

Oli Sykes, the vocalist, composer, and producer, along with Lee Malia on backing vocals and guitar, Matthew Nicholls on drums, and Matt Kean on bass, are credited for their contributions to “Kool-Aid.” Lucy Landry also provided additional backing vocals. It is worth noting that Jordan Fish is not credited for this particular track.

Bring Me the Horizon has been active in the past year, releasing a number of new singles such as “LosT,” “AmEN!” featuring Lil Uzi Vert and Daryl Palumbo of Glassjaw, and “DArkSide.” The band has also collaborated with various artists including CORPSE, Lil Uzi Vert, SLANDER, and Yungblud.

Frontman Oli Sykes has expressed his interest in exploring new musical territories, drawing inspiration from the hyper-pop genre while aiming for a more raw and unpolished sound. This stands in contrast to the popular trend of smoothing out music as a band gains popularity. Fans are eagerly awaiting the next phase of Bring Me the Horizon’s evolving sound.

Stay tuned for further updates from the band.
