Whether we met thanks to Rock Radio/Real XS or Team Rock, chances are that you’re into rock/metal and the community that exists around the music we love. Since last year, some friends and I have been building what we think is the next evolution of everything we’ve done in the past.
Radio can be a fantastic medium; playing killer music, keeping you company, making you laugh, making you think, making work more bearable… the list goes on, but a traditional FM/DAB radio station catering to a “niche” genre like rock is doomed to failure unless propped up by a much larger corporate entity. An entity which – if it suited them – wouldn’t hesitate to pull the plug if the budget demanded it.
We deserve better. Which is why we’re doing things differently.
With the rise of 4G and decent broadband (remember dial-up?) it’s no longer “internet radio”, it’s just radio.
Our radio station is owned and run by the rock community. 850-odd of us, for now. It’s run with the best interests of our community in mind. We play awesome music, have a laugh, and try not to take ourselves too seriously.
It’s about the music, yes, but it’s also about who you listen to the music with. Since starting Primordial Radio I’ve made more friends than I ever thought possible for a guy approaching his late 30s. The community is at the heart of everything we do, and it always will be. It’s the reason we can exist.
