Speaking about the writing process for Mammoth II and the hit single Like A Pastime, Wolfgang states:

This one is fun. It came about when I tried to teach my fiance what a polyrhythm was. The rhythm is accentuated by the guitar at the beginning, and then the kick drum adds another layer of rhythm on top of it. That was my simple way of teaching the concept of a polyrhythm.

She ended up getting it, surprisingly easier than when I tried to explain it using a Meshuggah song.

Wolfgang Van Halen, a nominee for a GRAMMY® Award, demonstrates his musical prowess on his latest album, Mammoth II, where he single-handedly writes and performs all the songs, instrumentation, and vocals. This effort showcases an extended range of his musical abilities, expanding beyond his traditional style.

The album features a variety of tracks, including the lively opening track “Right?” and the Beatles-inspired fade of “Better Than You” at the end. This progression highlights Wolfgang’s growth as a songwriter, musician, and especially as a vocalist.

Tracks like “Miles Above Me,” “Take a Bow,” and “Waiting” each present their unique sonic aesthetics, contributing to the overall distinct sound of Mammoth WVH.

Wolfgang Van Halen’s solo project, Mammoth WVH, highlights his proficiency as a songwriter, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. The debut album, titled “Mammoth WVH,” had a notable impact on 21st-century rock music.

During its release, the album achieved a significant milestone with a GRAMMY® Award nomination for its first-ever single. It also debuted at #1 on multiple charts, garnered praise from television performances, and consistently sold-out shows over a span of two years.
