As (hopefully) most of you know mental health is one of the pillars of Primordial Radio.
So while we talk about mental health as much as possible all year round you might be wondering why we are bothering with Mental Health Awareness Week?
Well… this week is significant because in the aftermath of the pandemic and with the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, we know many people are struggling with their mental health.
Primordial Radio wants to show our support for the Mental Health Foundation by joining their campaign to start conversations about mental health, challenge stigma and encourage people to talk about their mental health, support others and not be ashamed to ask for help. For the last 24 years, they have chosen a theme for the week. This year’s theme is Movement: Moving more for our mental health.
Getting active is one way to try to better manage your wellbeing.
It can help you feel good both on the inside and out. It does this by causing chemical changes in your brain, which can help to positively change your mood and can help with:
- Raising your self-esteem
- Setting goals or challenges and achieving them
- Reducing anxiety and stress
“…many of us struggle to move enough. We know there are many different reasons for this, so this Mental Health Awareness Week we want to help people to find moments for movement in their daily routines. Going for a walk in your neighbourhood, putting on your favourite music and dancing around the living room, chair exercises when you’re watching television – it all counts!” Mental Health Foundation
