Former Spiritbox bassist Bill Crook, a prominent Canadian bassist known for his contributions to metal and hardcore music, has passed away.
The news was confirmed on July 24th via an Instagram post by Kai Turmann, a former bandmate from the Vancouver-based mathcore group A Textbook Tragedy.

In the statement, Turmann stated:
I’m so profoundly sad to say that our dear friend Bill Crook has passed away. He was a friend to so many, and a dear friend to me since we were children.

Throughout his career, Crook’s bass playing was featured on recordings from A Textbook Tragedy and the pop-punk band Living with Lions. He also provided back-up vocals on tracks from Comeback Kid and Misery Signals. From 2018 to 2022, Crook was the live bassist for Spiritbox and contributed vocals to their 2021 album, Eternal Blue.
Recently, Crook had been working on new music with producer and Underoath drummer-vocalist Aaron Gillespie. He last posted an update from the studio on Instagram on July 7th.
